The Impact of Social Media on Teen Self-Esteem
Social media can be fun, but it can also hurt teen self-esteem. It’s easy to scroll through photos of perfect vacations, pretty outfits, and “perfect” lives, and feel like you’re not good enough. I used to compare my life to others’ posts, and it made me sad. Then I realized that social media is a highlight reel—no one posts their bad hair days or messy bedrooms. Now, I limit my social media time and follow accounts that make me feel happy, not insecure. I also try to post real, unfiltered photos. Social media should be a tool to connect with friends, not a way to judge yourself. Remember: what you see online isn’t always real.
