The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health
Social media can have a negative impact on mental health if we’re not careful. I used to spend hours scrolling through Instagram, comparing my life to the perfect photos I saw. I felt like I wasn’t good enough, and I became sad and anxious. Then I decided to take a break from social media. I deleted the apps from my phone, and instead of scrolling, I read books, played outside, and hung out with friends in person. I felt happier and more present. Social media isn’t all bad—it’s a great way to stay in touch with friends—but it’s important to set limits. We need to remember that social media is a highlight reel, not real life. Taking breaks can help us protect our mental health.
